GCX's goal is to develop of base of operations in the Northern Mountains of the Jinotega region. Specifically in a small coffee growing area known as "La Esmeralda". Our immediate goals include:
- Raise $4,000.00 to $5,000.00 for the purchase of 2.5 mansanas (4.3 acres) in the heart of this region.
- Raise another $3,000.00 to build a church for the Christians already meeting in this area. When I sat down with Don Hugo, a leader in the region, he explained to me that he had been praying for us to come before he even met us. He leads 6 Home Groups in the area around his coffee plantation. This fledgling congregation is in dire need of a central meeting location. They have already started on the foundation but lack the money, equipment, and manpower to finish the structure and roof.
- Raise still another $50,000.00 to establish a base for GCX in La Esmeralda. After acquiring the land, we would like to build the church, and then immediately start on the construction of a missions house large enough to accommodate 20 North Americans who come on missions trips with GCX. Approximate cost of building the missions house - $25,000.00. We also will need all the start up equipment for evangelizing and discipling the people who live in the mountains. Hiking equipment, Tents, Sleeping Bags and Pads, as well as movie equipment for the Jesus film such as Generators, DVD Projectors, DVD Players, Sound Equipment, Water Proof Trunks, etc. Estimated cost for equipment $5,000.00 to $7,000.00. The rest of the $50,000.00 would go to possibly purchasing a four wheel drive vehicle for transportation to and from the airport in Managua and to remote regions accessible only by four wheel drive vehicles. Estimated cost of vehicle $10,000.00-$15,000.00. We also need Spanish Bibles, Medicine for the Nicaraguan's we hike to, and discipleship materials.
